The Power of the Rebounder Trampoline

By Jeff Tsil

Many people would never guess that the rebounder trampoline is actually one of the top ways to get a good exercise. The main reason for this perception, of course, is because we generally associate it with being a toy for kids. But after reading this article, you will learn that although kids have a kick out of it, the benefits of using one of these is so incredible that NASA endorsed it as being the most effective form of exercise ever devised by man.

If you don't already own one of these, then you're probably very skeptical right now. It's okay, most people are in the beginning. When it comes down to it, in order to get a good workout, you have to be doing something that is able to keep your heart rate up in order to burn enough calories to help you stay in shape. Generally speaking, the two most popular forms of exercise is jogging and walking. In order to see how well using a rebounder is compared to jogging, let's compare.

Just so you know, in terms of burning calories, you would think that there is no way bouncing up and down on a mini trampoline can ever compare to something like jogging. Well, tests show that the amount of calories you burn during 20 minutes of working out on the device is actually more than jogging for 3 miles! Let's take a look at why this is so.

One big reason is the way the rebounder works. When you jump in the air at the increased height that the trampoline allows you to, two things happen. One is when you are at the peak of the jump, your body experiences weightlessness for a split second. The other is at the bottom of the jump, your body can experience up to 5 times the force of gravity. This causes your body to actually get stronger because of the added pressure on all the bones and muscles.

Another reason is that when you extend your body to the fullest, it helps create greater air flow and stimulates certain chemicals in your body, therefore allowing you to produce more energy. Yet another benefit is your abs will get stronger since it naturally has to tighten up to keep you stabilized and balanced.

A huge difference between using a rebounder and jogging is the pressure that is put on your feet and knees. Many people think they can just stick on a pair of running shoes and just go running. This is a big mistake. The constant pounding of the foot on the pavement can cause serious injuries to your foot, ankles, knees, and even your back. However, with the mini trampoline, because of how the mat actually slows down your speed, the impact on your ankles and knees are kept at a minimum.

With so many benefits of using a rebounder, it's no wonder why it has quickly become one of the most popular and fun form of workouts today. You never would've guessed that by just looking at this "toy".
